This wasn't my first visit to Scarborough's Mother Hubbards and it probably won't be my last, as the service is quick and efficient and the lightly battered haddock always appears to be freshly cooked. On this occasion, I went for the medium sized haddock and chips at a cost of £6.10. However, with hindsight, I wish I'd have gone for the larger version at £8.45. I know it sounds greedy, but it really was that good.
Home 'Oak-Smoked' Salmon Fillet

My co-diner opted for the Home 'oak smoked' salmon fillet with salad (£8.95) and was delighted by both the appearance and the taste.
If you decide to head for the top of town and are tempted by Mother Hubbards, please note that there are steps to climb. There is a lift from street level to restaurant for wheelchair users, but the lift is not suitable for mobility scooters. The toilets, which were nice and clean by the way, are on a higher level that the restaurant. To aid access, there is a Stannah-type stair lift, otherwise there are more stairs to climb.
